Surround yourself with the beauty and splendor of Autumn during the most colorful time of the year. We offer two different excursions for leaf-peepers to enjoy, but whichever ride you choose, you’re sure to behold the best the Red Clay Valley has to offer!
Mt. Cuba Picnic Grove 1½-hour round-trip
On weekends and select weekdays, we offer 1½-hour round-trips to the Mt. Cuba Picnic Grove, where you’ll enjoy a ½-hour layover at our secluded grove along the banks of the Red Clay Creek. You can pack a picnic lunch (or purchase snacks and drinks at Greenbank Station) to enjoy during the stop. If you don’t want to get off at Mt. Cuba, you can remain on the train and we’ll take you further up the line to view even more Autumn colors.
Hockessin 2½-hour round-trip
On our trips to Hockessin, you’ll travel the entire length of the railroad (a 17-mile round-trip) to the town of Hockessin. You’ll spend a ½-hour layover in Hockessin, where you can browse the local shops or purchase food for the return trip from one of several eateries near the tracks.

Groups of 15-20 people can rent one of our red cabooses to have a private party aboard the train.

Larger groups (between 20 and 40 people) can rent our Parlor Car to have a private party aboard the train. The Parlor Car is a larger space with plenty of room to set up food and beverages for your party.

- All trains operate rain or shine.
- The railroad reserves the right to substitute coaches and/or motive power as operating conditions demand and to make modifications to the schedule without prior notice.
- We have limited accessibility for handicapped persons. All buildings have wheelchair ramps and we have a wheelchair lift to board the train at Greenbank Station. However, there is no wheelchair lift available at any of our stops, including the Mt. Cuba Picnic Grove and Hockessin. Train doorways are only 24-inches wide and there is limited space for wheelchair storage on the train.
