Take a leisurely 1½-hour round-trip ride up the Red Clay Valley to the town of Yorklyn, DE. There were two major industries in Yorklyn at the turn of the last century - snuff milling and paper milling. The world's largest snuff mill was located in Yorklyn, and was served by the Wilmington & Western. Snuff is a form of smokeless tobacco which was popular in Europe during the 18th and 19th centuries. Some of the old mill buildings still stand in the area. This train DOES NOT stop at the Mt. Cuba Picnic Grove.
This event is powered by one of our historic first-generation diesel locomotives.
