Enjoy the beauty of the Red Clay Valley while traveling aboard our unique 1929 "Doodlebug" railcar No. 4662, which once served the mighty Pennsylvania Railroad. Our Doodlebug is self-propelled, and features both passenger seating and baggage storage. Cars such as this were usually referred to as "Doodlebugs" by railroaders, and they saw service on lightly-used branch lines where it was not economical to operate a multi-car, locomotive-hauled train. No. 4662 is one of only two Doodlebugs from the Pennsylvania Railroad known to exist today. This is a 1-hour round-trip ride to Yorklyn, and this excursion does not stop at the Mt Cuba Picnic Grove.
Seating is limited on the Doodlebug, so be sure to make reservations early to experience this historic piece of railroad equipment.
