Surround yourself with the beauty and splendor of Autumn during the most colorful time of the year. On weekends and select weekdays, we offer 1½-hour round-trips along the Red Clay Creek through the towns of Mt. Cuba, Ashland and Yorklyn. At Mt. Cuba, you have the option of either getting off the train to enjoy a half-hour layover at our secluded picnic grove, or you can remain on the train and we'll take you further up the line to view even more Autumn colors. Bring your camera and behold the best that the Red Clay Valley has to offer!

If you plan to get off the train at the Mt. Cuba Picnic Grove, we encourage you to pack a picnic lunch to enjoy along the banks of the Red Clay Creek.

In recent years, we have also featured longer trips to Hockessin, but due to a summer tornado that ripped through northern Delaware which caused several washouts on the western portion of our line, we are not able to offer Autumn Leaf excursions to Hockessin this year. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, and look forward to returning to Hockessin in 2021!

Due to State of Delaware requirements, we must maintain fresh airflow through the train. Although the train will be heated, doors and windows on the train will be open for our November and December excursions. As a result, we encourage you to dress warmly (or in layers) for this excursion. We apologize for the inconvenience, but this will ensure we can operate in accordance with state requirements.
